I hope you enjoyed my travel blogs lately. 😁 There are more places I've been to that I want to share with you guys, so expect some more travel posts in the next days! For years and years, I've been so used to travelling whether by land, sea or air, to go around places either for school, work, leisure or vacation.
Somehow, I feel like I have mastered how to pack everything I need (including numerous outfits) even when I'm forced to bring just a backpack or small bag. I'll probably post an entirely different blog as to how I do that, but for this one I'll talk about the essentials that I always bring with me whenever I travel, and could never "leave" without!
1. Jacket, parka or cardigan
Even when "the cold doesn't bother you anyway", it's still best to bring around even just a jacket or a scarf. Weather can be quite unpredictable and all the more when we're talking about visiting a new place or a different country. The first time we went to Hong Kong, we were expecting to have sunny summer weather but when we got there, the temperature went down to 12 degrees C. Imagine how freezing it was for all of us who were bringing light clothes.
From that same experience, I was so thankful I always bring extra socks when travelling! We usually lose heat faster on our extremities-- hands, feet, head. We bought gloves too as it was too cold when we went up to the Big Buddha or Tian Tan Buddha in HK.
From our recent trip to Davao.
I'm that kind of person who's always cold! Hahaha.
2. Identification Cards
I know you're thinking "ummm, obviously?" Well, we sometimes do forget about the obvious simply because we're too complacent. I purposely put these here as an important reminder to always, always make sure you have your proper identification cards or documents with you before travelling. Always make sure you have at least 1-3 valid IDs that are all updated and current.
3. Expandable/collapsible bag
This one's actually inspired by my boyfriend. I noticed that every time we travel, he'd always have this extra expandable/collapsible bag in his luggage. We use this to pack pasalubong, extra items we may have shopped, probably some extra laundry-- essentially just an extra bag for contingency. And I really think it's a great idea! Haha.
When you need to bring stuff out of your check in luggage and just carry some of it instead, this handy bag could be useful when you don't want to stuff items into your leather hand bag. Or when you have extra baggage allowance for pasalubong yet you don't have the space in your luggage anymore, this bag could save the day!
I actually found a perfect one for me on our recent trip to Davao! I can bring it around like a size of a wallet and use it as a full hand bag when I need to. It's actually quite durable and well made!
4. Eye Cover & Neck Pillow
Catching up with some extra sleep can be extremely helpful when travelling! You'll be going around, probably walking all day, and the whole trip could be so tiring! Or you were probably on a super early flight. Riding the bus or plane ride could offer you some extra time to snooze.
Just some of the eye covers I've been bringing around every time I travel.
If you're feeling a little extra or you have extra space, might as well bring a neck pillow too! I only bring these with me when it's a road trip or a long bus ride, as sleeping while sitting upright isn't really comfortable on your neck.
5. Comfortable Shoes
Don't ever take your shoes for granted. As they say, good shoes take you to good places. Indeed it's true! How else can you visit all the stops in your itinerary when your shoes are causing you some major aches!
This is my shoe collection from my own shoe store Coco and Belle.
I can always trust on any of these pairs to keep me comfortable during all my trips!
Bringing comfortable shoes doesn't mean sacrificing your style. But make sure to consider the itinerary and the locations when choosing your shoes. For example: Going on rides at amusement parks would mean it's best to wear shoes that don't easily fly off! Hahaha. Or if you're going to temples and places where you'll have to take off your shoes often, then it's best to bring around sandals or mules.
Just a shameless promotion!

And if you're planning to bring new shoes for a trip, make sure to break in your new shoes to prevent abrasions and blisters (ouchie!). You can also search on quick ways to do that!
I guess that's it! I hope you find this blog post useful! Haha.
Will post next time on how to pack and organize your luggage! Keep posted!
Love,
Lora 👠
