Leyte Summer Experience

Finally had the time to finish this blogpost! 🙈 If you're looking for a new destination to visit, you might consider visiting the beautiful province of Leyte. It has so much in store and plenty of hidden gems!

What was supposed to be just a solo trip for me, turned out into a family vacation. You see, my brother-in-law is from Leyte and although we've known him for a long time already, we (as a family) never got the chance to visit his hometown. So we decided to turn it into our summer trip! Hahaha.

And please excuse the lack of good photos for this post because I wasn't really planning on making one for this trip. But I was just so amazed with what I experienced that I had to share it with all of you!

We boarded the 2GO (Supercat) trip from Cebu to Ormoc. We took the 10:25 am trip and arrived in Ormoc around 1pm. You can find more details here on the fare and schedules: Supercat Schedules

This was our first trip together since my dad died and I just can't help but miss him. But I think this was also our time to recollect, re-energize and enjoy life after all that had happened.

We only took a short tour around Ormoc (the City of Beautiful People! 😉) and we headed straight to Baybay City where we will be staying for the next nights.

Can you guess the name of this place? It's "Minahal Kita".
Located under a bridge and by the river, the ambiance was just so relaxing. And I must say, the food here was great! Check out their facebook page for more photos: Minahal Kita

If you're looking for an affordable place to stay and chill in Baybay, then check out Coral Beach Resort (Brgy. Maitum)

The rooms were clean and spacious.
Plus you can dip in this infinity pool, or head straight to the beach!
Enjoyed an early morning dip with these two! Photos by kuya Mykel Quero Apas

They also have a terrace area where you can host a small party and enjoy this private pool and sunset view.

Still in Baybay City, you can visit the 16,000 Blossoms at Lintaon Peak and enjoy this beautiful view from the top.
It was quite cold up there! Good thing I was bringing my jacket around with me!

With my new travel buddy, my mom. 😂

She's getting the hang of this whole "do it for the 'gram" thing. Hahaha.
She found a perfect spot for herself!

If you're wondering how to get here, you can find more details here @discoverbaybaycity on facebook. They also have plenty more suggestions of where to dine and tour around in Baybay City.

More photos at 16,000 blossoms:
Thanks Kuya Marvin and family for the accommodation!

Just look at that amazing view!!! I wouldn't mind staying here for a while.
Perfect place to have some quiet time to just appreciate nature and its beauty.

So the next day we went to Maasin City to visit more of Kuya Marvin's relatives.
Sadly I wasn't able to take much photos on my own. I really just wanted to enjoy the good food and company!

We had dinner at Kiosko Food Park. All my seafood cravings were satisfied!
I tell you, we had more than just these scallops. We also ordered this mixed seafood, crunchy shrimps, garlic shrimps, and some fish dishes. They also offer some grilled pork belly and other meat dishes.

My favorite pasalubong, that I always ask from my Kuya Marvin is this Bocarillo. 😁😁😁
I bought a LOT. Not for pasalubong but for my own consumption.
And look at that beautiful sunset we witnessed there.
Probably one of the reasons why I fell in love with Leyte.

The next day, we went to Tacloban City. This time to visit some of my mom's college friends.
It was a loooong drive from Maasin City, I tell you! But just enjoy the view and the whole ride.

On the way there, we dropped by the MacArthur Landing Memorial National Park in Palo, Leyte.

Something about travelling with my mom and sister.
They love collecting tourist-y things-- like these printed photos taken by the photographer at the park.

Next stop was the Sto. Nino Shrine & Heritage Museum. Although it was a little dusty inside already, you can still see and imagine the extravagance that is displayed there.
I guess my photos will say it all.

There's an entrance fee and you can also avail of a guide while you're there.
Meet our guide! 😁

Any Leyte trip would not be complete without a photo at the San Juanico Bridge.
Stopping in the middle of the bridge is not encouraged especially during peak hours so maybe you'd consider going by in the morning.

Thanks to Kuya Marvin for this quick shot! Anything for the 'gram. Hahaha.

For dinner, we went to Ocho Seafood and Grill in Tacloban.
Sponsored by my mom's close friends from college (they're nurses 😉).

As for where we stayed in Tacloban, we booked Z pad Residences through Booking.com.
For every three rooms, there's a main door that opens to this common area (dining area and living room), then further inside is the door to your own room.

It was clean and modern, and they also serve breakfast. The staff were courteous and approachable. They did not have an elevator though, which isn't so good when you're travelling with a senior. Overall, it was a pleasant stay there.

The adventure is far from over! Hahaha
The next day we headed to Macrohon,Leyte, to dine and enjoy the view at Southern Leyte Divers.
Again, another long drive but totally worth it! Definitely a place worth coming back to.
Check it out here: Southern Leyte Divers

Look at these cuties! Haha They greeted us when we arrived!

More photos while we were there:
Too bad I wasn't able to take more photos of the food! Again, I just wanted to enjoy the moment.
Such a stress-free place to be!

Later after lunch we went to Sogod for a personal visit. We bought more food and snacks along the way then headed back to Baybay right after.

I still felt like there was more to explore in Leyte!
And I'm definitely coming back.
Top on my list: Kuting Reef Resort, Cuatro Islas and more beaches and food!

I hope this also makes you want to visit Leyte soon! ❤
Feel free to leave in the comments some recommendations.

Until the next post!

Love,
Lora 🌊

Am I a toxic person?: How to practice mindfulness

So a couple of weeks back, I asked some of my followers on what topic they'd like me to write about and one of the questions I got was this: "How do I know if I'm a toxic person? How can I avoid being toxic?" I found it interesting because a lot of people don't ever ask themselves that question. Often times we're looking for "how to deal with toxic people" but not so much about "how can I avoid being a toxic person" . So how do you know if you're a toxic person? Well to start off, what do we mean by "toxic person" ? Here's a list of some common signs : 1. They try to control you by guilt tripping . Common phrases most probably used is "Uy sis, favor. Cge na. Friends bitaw ta.", e ven though they know that what they're asking you to do is probably inconvenient or annoying for you. They can't take "no" and instead say things like "I've done so much for you a
