Day 3: Peak Tram + Ocean Park + Ladies Market
Before heading out to Ocean Park (as what we initially planned for the day), we figured it would be nice to see a view of Hong Kong from the top, in this sunny and warm weather.
For a more scenic route going to the Peak Tram terminal, we took a ferry from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central. The terminal is in Star Ferry Pier, near the Hong Kong clock tower and Hong Kong Cultural Center.
We took photos in front of the Hong Kong Cultural Center and the Hong Kong Clock Tower before heading to the ferry terminal.
This is where you go up to get to the Star Ferry.
If you don't have an octopus card, you have to pay for your ride using this kiosk. The fare is just 2-3HKD per person and the ride takes less than 15 min. if I remember it right. Haha.
We dropped by for a little snack at Subway before going down the elevator to get to the "Peak Tram bus stop at Central Pier" (if you'll search it in Google maps). Right from the bus stop you can see the Hong Kong Observation Wheel. Maybe in the next trip I'd explore more of Central HK, including this area.
I was taking photos while we were waiting for the bus. π While you're at the bus stop, you'll also notice these Big Bus Sightseeing tour buses . I'm not sure about these buses but you can explore more about it here: Big Bus Tours. We took a regular bus to get to the Peak Tram terminal, and I'm so sorry I forgot how much the fare was and what bus number it was. π
The queue can be quite long to get tickets, so I suggest you have your octopus card or you Klook the Peak Tram tickets. Take note that the Klook Peak Tram Fast-track combo tickets require you to meet with their guide on Central Exit K. More details on the booking can be found here: Peak Tram Combo. At The Peak, you can also enjoy the view at the Sky Terrace 428. Other attractions include the Madame Tussauds wax museum and some stores and restaurants there.

The view from the top was amazing!
Choose from a wide array of food and refreshments. Plenty of shops too at the Peak!
Next stop was Ocean Park! We took the MTR from Central station to Admiralty station (1 stop). Then at Admiralty station we went 5-6 floors down to interchange to the South Island Line, and ride to Ocean Park station (next stop from Admiralty).
Again, we Klook-ed our tickets for this one to avoid the long queue for the tickets, and to also avail of a discount. Just head straight to the gates! Grab your tickets here: Ocean Park Hong Kong.
The place is huge! And as I said in the previous itinerary, I suggest you download the Ocean Park Hong Kong app to get updates on show schedules, waiting time for attractions, and an interactive map. And just like in Disneyland, I suggest you eat up before going (food can be pricey at the park), and also bring your own water bottle.
There are plenty of attractions and rides to choose from. Here are some highlights of our visit there.
If you love pandas as much as I do, then your first place to visit would definitely be the Amazing Asian Animals where you can view a real Panda! Although I already saw one at the Singapore Zoo, I still got excited to view another one.
I mean, look at that cutie! ππ
While at the Amazing Asian Animals area.
Right outside the Panda viewing area and souvenir shop, you can check out this Panda themed restaurant. They serve this set meal there if you're planning to have lunch at the park. This was so good, I swear! *Thanks Auntie Tata. ππ*
You can also check out the Old Hong Kong area that they have. Plenty of spots to snap your #ootd photos.
We then took the cable car to get to The Summit (the park is divided into two areas, the Waterfront and the Summit). You can also choose to take the Ocean Express (train) if you're not into heights and a long trip on a cable car. *be warned*
I just had to take a photo with the cable car.
While we were waiting for the show at the Ocean Theatre (the show is a must-see!), we went around and visited some penguins! You can find them at the South Pole Spectacular. It's freezing inside so you might want to cover up a bit.
Meet the penguins!
The park closes at 6pm so you'll still have time to go around somewhere else after you visit Ocean Park. In our case, after a long day at the park, we decided we still had some energy for some night market shopping! What is a trip, without bringing home some pasalubong right?
From Ocean Park station, we went straight to Mong Kok station (instead of Admiralty) to get to Ladies Market. There you can find fashion bags, wallets, toys, collectibles, clothes, cellphone cases, cute socks, watches and even some home dΓ©cor. You really need to know how to bargain so you can get the best price. Better yet, buy at wholesale to get an even better price. Sadly, I wasn't able to take pictures anymore so just go ahead and see for yourself! It's usually open until 12 midnight.
We were just so tired from all the walking and *shopping* we just took a taxi to get to our hotel. We paid around 42 HKD for the ride.
And to cap off our day, we just had to eat at Jollibee! There was one near the hotel so we just had to have our bucket of chicken joy. This was the only photo I could take. We were all just super tired and hungry!
All in all, it was a fun and memorable Hong Kong experience. I would say, my final tips would be:
- Be particular with planning your itinerary and getting to know your routes and destinations. This saved us a lot of time and energy.
- Bring comfortable shoes! Haha. There will be a lot of walking compared to what you may be used to.
- Savor the taste of Hong Kong! Don't be afraid to try their dishes and local food. It's the best way to really get to know HK.
- Don't always convert to pesos while you're spending. It will only take away the joy from your vacation. Just enjoy the trip!
I hope you find my tips and this itinerary useful! Just comment down below if you have more tips to share!
Love,
